Overview on Trekking to Everest Base Camp

For trekkers, adventurers, and nature enthusiasts, visiting Everest Base Camp is a dream come true. Choose our Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Stay in the finest lodgings available in the trekking region, ensuring you enjoy comfort amid the breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.

Your journey commences with a spectacular flight to Lukla, followed by a short hike to Phakding. Spend the day exploring Phakding, including its captivating monasteries.

The trek continues to Namche Bazaar, where you’ll cross high suspension bridges and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Sagarmatha National Park. Take a day to acclimatize in Namche, exploring the Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Center and hiking to Khunde and Khumjung, with an optional hike to the Everest Hotel for more Everest views.

From Namche, venture to Tengboche, surrounded by breathtaking views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Along the way, encounter the region’s wildlife and visit the grand Tengboche Monastery.

Continue your journey to Dingboche, trekking through small villages and entering the scenic Imja Valley. Dingboche offers a day of acclimatization, with vistas of Lhotse Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, and Makalu.

Meantime, your path to Lobuche leads you through glacial moraines, where you’ll encounter a memorial and cozy lodges with panoramic mountain views.

On the eighth day, reach the pinnacle of your journey as you set foot on Everest Base Camp. Start early from Lobuche, trek to Gorak Shep, and then to EBC, capturing memories and breathtaking views. Return to Gorak Shep for the night.

Wake early the next morning to experience the sunrise at Kala Patthar Viewpoint (5,555m), offering a stunning view of Mt. Everest and nearby peaks. Afterward, return to Gorak Shep for breakfast and proceed to Pheriche.

About Your Return Journey 

Your return journey begins as you leave Pheriche and make your way to Tengboche, passing through lush forests and visiting the renowned Tengboche Monastery.

From Tengboche, head to Namche Bazaar, where you’ll find a bustling hub of activity, including Wi-Fi-linked restaurants, souvenir shops, bars, clubs, and the Sherpa museum.

After a night in Namche, trek to Phakding, following the picturesque Dudh Koshi River and dense forests.

Finally, your journey culminates as you return to Lukla on your last day on the trekking trails. Spend one more night in the Khumbu region before boarding a morning flight back to Kathmandu. Your flight will provide you with a sense of relaxation, both mentally and physically, as you reflect on the extraordinary experiences of your Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek.

Lukla Flight Information:

Please, note that during peak trek seasons (March, April, May, October, and November), flights to Lukla may depart from Ramechhap/Manthali due to traffic congestion in Kathmandu. At other times, flights depart from Kathmandu. Be prepared to leave Kathmandu for Manthali around 12:30 a.m. on the scheduled departure date, with a five-hour drive to reach your destination.

Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal (Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft)

Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal’s cultural heart! We’ll greet you warmly and provide a smooth transfer to your hotel. Expect an evening briefing about your trek and an early night’s rest, as an exciting adventure awaits.

Day 2Kathmandu to Lukla Flight and Phakding (Altitude: 2,800m/9,184ft - Lukla, 2,652m/8,698ft - Phakding)

Begin your day with a short morning flight to Lukla, where you’ll meet your guide and porter. The trek kicks off with an easy walk through Chaurikharka village and a descent to Dudhkoshi Ghat (2,530m/8,300ft). The trail follows the Dudhkoshi River to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft), where you’ll stay to acclimatize.

Day 3Phakding to Namche Bazaar (Altitude: 3,440m/11,283ft)

After breakfast in Phakding, set off for Namche Bazaar, Nepal’s largest Sherpa village. Cross the Dudhkoshi River via a suspension bridge, pass through a pine forest to Monjo, and then enter Sagarmatha National Park for a permit check. Descend to Dudh Kosi River, spotting Mani stones along the way, and continue to Jorsale for lunch. The uphill journey to Namche includes crossing the Hillary Suspension Bridge and offers the first view of Everest.

Day 4 Namche Bazaar: Rest and Acclimatization Day (Altitude: 3,440m/11,283ft)

Today is a well-deserved break to acclimatize. Opt for a 2-hour hike to Everest View Point for faster acclimatization or explore Namche Bazaar. Visit the Sherpa museum for insights into Sherpa culture and mountaineering history. On Saturdays, explore the Hatt Bazaar for a glimpse of the local marketplace and shop for trekking gear.

Day 5Namche Bazaar to Phortse (Altitude: 3,700m/12,139ft)

Breakfast in Namche Bazaar fuels your trek towards Everest Base Camp. Enjoy breathtaking views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kwangde. Reach Phortse, known for its beauty and views, including Ama Dablam.

Day 6Phortse to Dingboche (Altitude: 4,400m/14,435ft)

Today’s trail parallels the Imja Khol River with its stunning blue waters. Pass through Pangboche, the largest Sherpa settlement, and have lunch with locals. Optionally visit the Pangboche monastery. Continue to Dingboche for a challenging afternoon trek.

Note: In winter, an alternate route via Debouche and Tengboche may be used if the trail is snow-covered.

Day 7Dingboche: Rest and Acclimatization Day (Altitude: 4,400m/14,435ft)

Rest up before the final ascent. Explore Dingboche and the valleys of Chhukung and Imja, which link with Island Peak and Makalu Barun National Park. Opt for a trek to the valleys for rewarding views or take it easy.

Day 8Dingboche to Lobuche (Altitude: 4,900m/16,076ft)

The trek gets gradually more challenging due to higher altitude. Pass by Dungla with its memorial stupas honoring climbers. Arrive in Lobuche with stunning views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumari, and Nuptse.

Day 9Lobuche to Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp (EBC) (Altitude: 5,180m/16,994ft - Gorak Shep, 5,364m/17,598ft - EBC)

The big day starts with a trek to Gorak Shep, followed by a tougher trail to Everest Base Camp. Marvel at the Khumbu Glacier and icefall on Everest’s slopes. At EBC, you might meet climbers during the spring season. Return to Gorak Shep for rest.

Day 10Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar and Pheriche or Pangboche (Altitude: 5,545m/18,192ft - Kala Patthar, 4,320m/14,173ft - Pheriche)

Wake early to trek to Kala Patthar for a spectacular sunrise over Everest. Capture amazing photos of Nuptse Nup, Changtse, and Lhotse. Head back to Gorak Shep for breakfast and descend towards Pheriche or optionally Pangboche.

Day 11Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (Altitude: 3,440m/11,284ft)

The trek from Pheriche to Tengboche is mainly downhill, with a short uphill section. Arrive in Namche Bazaar by late afternoon.

Day 12Namche to Phakding and Lukla (Altitude: 2,800m/9,184ft)

After breakfast, trek towards the Hillary Suspension Bridge and pass through local villages. Reach Lukla for your last night on the mountain and celebrate your achievement with your trekking crew.

Day 13Lukla to Kathmandu (Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft)

Take a brief flight from Lukla to Kathmandu (Note: flights via Ramechhap). Transfer to your hotel for rest and reflection. Reunite for a farewell dinner in a Nepalese restaurant to share your trek experiences.

Day 14Departure from Kathmandu (Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft)

Enjoy your last day in Nepal with breakfast and some final shopping in Kathmandu. We’ll ensure you reach Kathmandu International Airport in time for your flight home, bidding you farewell with cherished memories and stunning photos.
