Itinerary for Sikkim Darjeeling Tour

Day 1Arrive Darjeeling (2,042m)

Arrive at Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, India or at Bhadrapur Airport, Nepal and transfer to Darjeeling. Upon arrival, check-in hotel and the rest of the time is free to relax or explore around. Overnight at Hotel in Darjeeling.

Day 2Darjeeling (2,042m) - Sightseeing

Hike towards the Tiger Hill early in the morning which is the highest point in Darjeeling and which offers some spectacular view over the Himalayas; witness breathtaking sunrise and spectacular view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Then pay a visit to beautiful Ghoom monastery – one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. Afterwards return to back to hotel for breakfast. Sightseeing continues with visit to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Lebong race course, Happy Valley Tea Estate, Peace Pagoda, Tibetan Refugee Self help Center, Tenzing-Gumbo rock, ropeway and Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological park, board the Darjeeling toy train. Later at the evening drive back to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel in Darjeeling.

Day 3Darjeeling – Gangtok (1,560m)

Early in the morning after breakfast, drive towards Gangtok – the capital of Sikkim, which is about 2 &half hours scenic drive passing along small towns, tea gardens, Himalayan rivers. Gangtok is a small beautiful hill station located on the eastern Himalayan region. In Gangtok, you come across dense forested areas, spectacular Himalayan views and beautiful Buddhist monasteries. Upon reaching, check-in hotel and later on you can go for a leisure walk around the narrow streets of Gangtok. Overnight at Hotel in Gangtok.

Day 4Gangtok (1,560m) - Sightseeing

After breakfast, proceed with Gangtok sightseeing visiting the Enchey and Rumtek monasteries which serves as the most important monasteries in Gangtok. They mark as the important seat of Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism. Afterwards, continue sightseeing towards the Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms, Buddhist Chortens and Orchid sanctuary. Then back to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel in Gangtok.

Day 5Gangtok (1,560m) - Day Excursion

Today is visit to the very popular Tsomgo lake and Baba Mandir. Early in the morning after breakfast, drive through the rugged mountains terrains and cliffs, and finally reaching the glacial lake which is around 38 km from the town of Gangtok. This sacred lake is famous for its scenic and tranquil beauty. After Tsomgo lake, the next destination is Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir which commemorates an Indian Army Martyr, Major Harbhajan Singh. In the evening, drive back to hotel. Overnight at Hotel in Gangtok.

Day 6Gangtok - Depart

Your Darjeeling Gangtok tour comes to an end today, after breakfast depart to Bagdogra Airport, Siliguri or Bhadrapur Airport, Nepal or to your onward destination.
