Insurance is essential to cover against theft, loss, illness or injury. Basically the policy should cover loss of baggage, tickets and up to certain limits cash or cheques including cancellation or early curtailment of your travel. Mostly excluded are for so called dangerous sports and Sri Lanka in particular can be scuba diving, whitewater rafting, windsurfing or trekking. For any insurance claims against medicines or medical treatment, you should keep receipts. In case of if anything has been stolen, you must obtain an official statement from the police.
